Strike call withdrawn
Students have withdrawn their call for strike on July 29 against the Government decision to stop admissions to chemical engineering in the Gandhinagar Government Engineering College. The decision was taken following an assurance from Higher and Technical Education Minister Bharat Barot that admissions would continue, a Youth Congress Press release stated.Rly election
The Western Railway Promotee Officers' Association elected R K Gupta as president, K S Rao as vice-president, K K Verma as secretary and K S Panchal as treasurer. Other office-bearers who were elected include A K Pandey, R K Chaturvedi, Rajendra Kumar, P D Thaker, S Bharadwaj, Rakesh Saxena, O P Pathak and Anif Sheikh.
Suspended
Devendrakumar Dhirajlal Vyas, an advocate from Nadiad, has been suspended from the Bar Council of Gujarat for three months for professional indiscipline. A fine of Rs 5,000 has also been slapped on him by the Bar Council of India.
JD meeting
A meeting of Gujarat Janata Dal (Deve Gowda) faction has been convened on Wednesday at Bungalow number 563-A, Sector 22, Gandhinagar to decide their strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. Former Revenue Minister Keshavji Patel will chair the meeting.
