NAGPUR, AUG 6: Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Nagpur University and Dean of Indira Gandhi Medical College, Dr Wasudeo Tayade, on Thursday submitted his resignation from the board of studies in accordance with a State Government decision to restrict such holding of dual positions. As a result, the post of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Nagpur University is now vacant.
A GR issued on July 22 said the State Government was not in favour of deans or principals of government medical, dental or ayurveda colleges holding dual positions.
The Maharashtra Universities Act of 1994 allows the deans and principals to enter the Senate, Academic Council, Management Council and Board of Examinations. Except these, the GR has barred the deans and principals from entering any other body or authority in the universities. If they are already holding such position, they are expected to resign.
