NCP allotted `clock' symbol

NEW DELHI: The Nationalist Congress Party, whose demand for `charkha' symbol was rejected by the Election Commission, was today allotted the `clock' symbol for use by party candidates in all states in the coming elections.

Pak man expelled

NEW DELHI: India has expelled a Pakistani diplomat on charges of spying. An External Affairs Ministry official said here today a staff of Pak High Commission was expelled yesterday for being involved in spying and was asked to leave within a week.

Rly Minister

NEW DELHI: Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik was today given independent charge of the ministry following the resignation by his Cabinet colleague Nitish Kumar.

Rai dead

NEW DELHI: Former Union minister Kalpnath Rai died on Friday after suffering a heart attack. He was 58. Rai suffered a heart attack on Thursday night and died at 2.45 am.

Martyr buried

MUMBAI: Squadron Leader Farook Siddique,who was killed during Operation Vijay at Kargil, was buried with full military honours near his residence at Goregaon on Friday evening.
