Saplings planted to mark Hiroshima Day

CHANDIGARH, Aug 6: The students of the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 23-A, today took out a procession in Sector 23 to observe Hiroshima Day.

The students carried placards and shouted slogans like "Ban nuclear installations".

A function to observe the day was organised in the school by the Children's Alliance for Protection of the Environment.

The children planted as many as 54 saplings in the memory of those who died in the nuclear holocaust in Hiroshima. The function was presided over by District Education Officer, Brahamjit Kalia, who led the children in planting the saplings.
