PUNE, Aug 6: Despite the irregularities in the conduct of engineering (chemical) examinations held in April-May '99, the Vice-chancellor Dr Arun Nigvekar announced that the results for all years of the above examination will be declared, as per the decision of the Board of Studies, University of Pune.``We will go into the root of the problem and the culprits will not be spared,'' he said at a press conference today. A special session of the Management Council of the UoP has been scheduled on Monday to discuss the issue.
Though a committee of Dr W Saali and Prof Arun Dixit is expected to submit a report of its investigation in the scandal, within two weeks, retired ACP Manikrao Damame and retired judge A D Kale have been included in the committee, said Dr Nigvekar, adding that the UoP was willing to appoint an external committee to further probe the matter if required.
Earlier, a committee headed by the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Dumkundwar, had submitted its report to the Board of Studies, which accepted that ``irregularities were present to a certain extent only in the conduct of examinations for third-year chemical engineering, and unanimously decided that the results should be announced,'' said Dr Nigvekar.
