FOWA programmes to tackle AIDS

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PUNE, Aug 6: FOWA - a forum of four organisations working in AIDS - including Kayakalp, Akhil Budhwar Peth Devdasi Sanghatana, Manavya and Vanchit Vikas have been sanctioned by the government to conduct AIDS intervention programmes at red light areas in the city.

Dr Nitin Bora, secretary of FOWA said a two-day training programme was conducted for 40 peers (who are former Commercial Sex Workers - CSWs) at the Budhwar Peth red light area. The programme will conclude on Saturday after which these peers will work among CSWs operating in these areas.
