Bomb hoax at PCMC building

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Aug 7: Normal work at the main building of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was affected for most part of the day today following a bomb scare. A warning that a bomb had been placed at the building turned out to be a hoax after a three hour massive search.

An unidentified caller had informed the PCMC security department at around 11 am that a bomb had been placed in the building. The security department informed the municipal commissioner about the call following which the police were alerted.

A bomb disposal squad arrived at the building within a few minutes. The employees were asked to leave the building for carrying out the search. The sniffer dogs moved in all the departments to search for any explosives. After a search for about three hours, the police team declared that the bomb scare was a hoax.

This is the second occasion in the last two months that an unidentified caller created nuisance for the police and the civic authorities.
