Varsity's journalism student bags Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship

PUNE, Aug 6: Narendra Pachkhede, a post graduate student of mass communication of the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Pune, has been awarded the prestigious Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship for a doctoral programme in media studies at the Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.Pachkhede worked as a print and television journalist. Apart from coordinating the activities of Baroda-based INTERDOC-Centre for Culture and Media Studies, Pachkhede also lectures in the realm of media theory, communication thought at MS University, Baroda. The post-graduate student of the 1995 batch from the University of Pune was awarded the aural history project by the National Film Archives of India (NFAI). His proposed research outline for the doctoral programme in media studies lays stress on `The Making of South Asian Immigrant Culture in British Columbia'.
