Youngmen enter DSA super league

NEW DELHI, August 6: Youngmen Sports Club tormented City Club for nearly 55 minutes before their Nigerian import Innocent scored through a bicycle kick in the 57th minute in the Group II match of the DSA-SAIL Senior Division League. With this win Youngmen are through to Super League.

After playing a wait and watch game in the first half, Youngmen came up strongly after the break. In the 57th minute Parveen set the pace for a goal as he crossed to Shekhar Khanna who headed to a waiting Innocent.

That, in fact, was the turning point of the game. Two minutes later, Shekhar Khanna consolidated the lead with a neat shot.

Indian Nationals were held to a 2-2 draw by New Delhi Heroes. A Anthony and Deepak Gurung scored for Nationals while Shyam Bahadur Thapa and Paritosh Sharma did it for ND Heroes. Garhwal Heroes defeated Delhi Cantt 2-0, striker Navin Malik scored both the goals.

Manish Saini Excels: Manish Saini's all-round performance (45 runs and 4 for 35) enabled New Youngsters beat Friends Cricket Club (Faridabad) by eight wickets in a tournament.
Brief scores: Friends Cricket Club: 170 (Nishant Thakur 58, Sachin Samrat 40, Manish Saini 4/35, Saurav Gupta 3/15, Avinash Sharma 2/10) lost to New Youngster Cricket Club: 171 for 2 (Akash Rohtagi 48, Vinay Sharma 64, Manish Saini 45 no, Nishant 2/40).
