Health officials chalk out plan for leptospirosis

SURAT, Aug 8: Health department officials of Surat, Navsari and Valsad districts held an emergency meeting at the collectorate on Saturday to chalk out an action plan to tackle leptospirosis, which has already claimed the lives of eight persons and affected 63 others. The plan was chalked out under the supervision of State health secretary S K Verma, who reached Surat to take stock of the situation.Among the main decisions taken at the meeting were the installation of a haemodialysis facility at the New Civil Hospital here in the city, a biochemistry analyser at the Valsad Civil hospital and appointment of full time nephrologists in the three districts of Surat, Navsari and Valsad.
