IT officer gets suspended for impersonating on train

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

VADODARA, Aug 4: The Income Tax (IT) authorities on Saturday suspended the IT Inspector who was caught by railway officials for posing as a CBI officer for facilitating free train travel recently. Sources in the IT department said that Sushil Kumar Mahajan was suspended after the prima facie departmental probe found him guilty.

Tipped by the Chief Reservation Supervisor of Anand station, the railway officials had trapped Mahajan who, posing as a CBI officer, had fraudulently booked one berth in two tier AC in 2093 Ex-Baroda to Jammu Tawi on bronze pass no 440928 on Wednesday. On the basis of this pass, Mahajan had managed to obtain a confirmed ticket with his berth number being 42 in coach no A/2. During a personal search, it was also proved that Mahajan was also illegally using railway medical facilities for himself and his family.
