Houses burgled
Two cases of burglary were reported in city on Saturday. In the first case, Ganpatbhai Ramdas Patel, a resident of Juhu Park society, Nava Vadaj, lodged a complaint at Naranpura police station on Saturday that some unidentified persons broke into his house on August 1 and stole goods worth Rs 31,000 including gold and silver ornaments. In the second case, Nirmalkumar Bhavranjandas, a resident of Ishwar Krupa avenue, Khokhra, lodged a complaint with Amraiwadi police on Saturday that some unidentified persons entered into his house with the help of a duplicate key on Friday night and decamped with goods worth Rs 19,500.

Woman dies
Yamunaben Ramubhai Chandraiya (28), a resident of Chunilal Devshankarni chali, Bapunagar, died of burn injuries in Shardaben Hospital on Saturday. She was admitted in the hospital on August 3 following burns received while preparing tea. Bapunagar police have registered a case of accidental death.

Theft case
W M Maria (48), a resident of Shri Krishna Society, Vastrapur, lodged a complaint at Ellisbridge police station that an unidentified person stole her purse, which was kept on her bicycle. Maria was near Polytechnic crossroads when an unidentified person threw something on her forcing her to alight. He then decamped with Rs 21,000 and a camera worth Rs 7,000 kept in the purse.

Bag stolen
A suitcase belonging to Harishbhai Shantilal Shah was stolen from a luxury bus on Saturday morning. Police said it contained Rs 7,000 and some important documents. A complaint has been lodged at Ellisbridge police station.

Drivers fined
The Traffic Department collected fines from 1,149 drivers for violation of traffic rules. The department has also filed cases against 1,595 drivers under various offences. The traffic police also fined 48 drivers for not carrying pollution under control certificate.
