Programmes to mark Revolution Day today

AHMEDABAD, Aug 8: Various programmes will be organised in the city on Monday on the occasion of Revolution Day to pay tributes to martyrs who sacrificed their lives during Quit India Movement.

BJP youth wing will pay floral tributes to the statue of Vir Kinariwala at Gujarat College. While Gujarat University will organise a Shahid Vandana Sabha at Gujarat College campus in the morning. A release of GU on Sunday said that students from various colleges would congregate there as small rallies. Minister of State for Higher Education Bharat Barot and Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University S B Vora along with other ministers from State would pay floral tributes to the statue of Vir Kinariwala. A programme of patriotic songs would also be organised by GU.

A Government release said that such programmes would be organised in every University in State to awaken patriotic feelings of the young generation.

Gujarat Mazdoor Parishad will also organise functions to pay tribute to martyr of Quit India Movement Umakant Kadia. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University will organise a programme at University campus in the morning to pay tribute to martyrs. A programme of tree plantation has also been organised by the University on the occasion.
