NCP, SP hold talks on seat adjustment

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
MUMBAI, AUG 8: Leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) today held talks over seat adjustment for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Maharashtra.

NCP State unit Chief Chhagan Bhujbal and SP leader Abuasim Azmi discussed ``resolving claims and counter-claims of the two parties over some of the seats in the state over which a dispute has been going on for some time now'', NCP sources said.

However, as of now, the talks were inconclusive and are expected to be continued at a later date by when the two parties would have been able to reach an decision, the sources said.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, who had recently met Azmi is out of Mumbai. He is expected to attend a public rally being organised at Nanded tomorrow by Shetkari Sanghatna leader Sharad Joshi, the sources added.
