Pawar rejects post-poll pact with BJP

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Aug 8: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar today blasted the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for an alleged misinformation campaign over his alleged plans to enter into a post-poll alliance with the BJP and its allies.

NCP would be equidistant to both, the Congress and BJP, Pawar reiterated when asked about the reports that appeared in a section of press accusing him of having a tacit understanding with the BJP. The report said that Pawar would eventually have a quid pro quo with BJP with he becoming the deputy prime minister.

``I condemn this report,'' Pawar told media persons after attending a rally at Balgandharva Rangmandir in the city this evening. It was part of a misinformation campaign run by the Congress party, he said.

NCP needed no understanding with BJP since the political stance of its own allies like PWP, RPI (Athawale) and Swatantra Bharat were clear enough, Pawar maintained.
