Judit has to win four of the toughest matches of her career to fulfill her dream of winning the male-dominated World Chess Championship, organised by the world chess federation (Fide).

The second day of the third round of the $ 3 million event witnessed clinically precise victories by top seed Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Khalifman and Vassily Ivanchuk, while second-seeded Alexy Shirov had to undergo the gruelling tie-breakers after his shocking defeat to Brazilian Grandmaster Milos.

Magem employed the Caro-Kann Defence, well-known for its solid nature against the fiercely attacking Judit Polgar. The Hungarian girl went for an attack known after the former world champion Mikhail Botwinnik.

Judit's pieces ran amuck and Magem's King came under pressure. TheSpaniard accepted a poisoned pawn from the Hungarian GM and was soon checkmated in 40 moves.
