Documentary film festival

ENS
MUMBAI, August 9: Max Mueller Bhavan will screen a series of documentaries under the title Germany In Upheaval at the Stuttgart Hall at 6.30 pm from August 16. All films are in the original with English subtitles.

The package has been put together by Helga Reidemeister, reflects German history during 1989-1999, 10 years after the fall of the wall, through films by different directors. They focus on issues such as self-perception of the youth, their disorientation in the new world order, alienation in one's own country, and a crisis in creativity. The last day will include a discussion with critic Amrit Gangar, cinematographers Rafey Mahmood and C K Murlidharan and editor A V Narayanan to place the festival within an Indian context. For details call on 2027542/7710/2085.
