HC notice to Home Secretary on Ahmedabad riots

AHMEDABAD, Aug 9: A division Bench of Gujarat High Court comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice M S Parikh has issued notice to Home Secretary, Collector, Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police K C Bawa and Vejalpur police inspector directing them to file affidavits as to why two petitions on atrocities committed on the residents of Guptanagar chawl on July 29 should not be admitted.The petitions, filed by the victims and Lok Adhikar Sangh, stated that atrocities were committed by the police themselves on the residents on the fateful night and the State Government was responsible for the heinous act.
