Rajput Sabha to contest LS polls

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PATIALA, Aug 9: The Kashyap Rajput Sabha has decided to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state from Patiala.

Gopal Krishan Kashyap, general secretary of the Sabha, in a statement here today, said that the Sabha has called an emergency meeting to chalk out its future action programme in this regard on August 15 at Patiala. He said that the emergency meeting of the community will also decide on the issue of selecting a suitable candidate to contest the elections.

He said that initially, the Sabha has decided to field its candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha seat and the meeting will endorse the decision in this regard on August 15.

Kashyap said that the community has decided to contest the elections on its own because according to them, not a single political party has given due representation to the community as far as selection of candidates is concerned. He said that every political party had tried to exploit the sentiments of the community, due to which there is resentment in the community.
