UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
NASHIK, AUG 10: Upper and District Sessions Judge S S Sabne has sentenced one Rizwan Ahmed Badruja, who was found guilty in the murder of his wife Saidabano at Malegaon, to life imprisonment.

The prosecution submitted that Saidabano was harassed and tortured by her in-laws. In May 1997, she was set ablaze by her in-laws and admitted to a hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

Her in-laws told the police that she committed suicide. Following the police complaint by Saidabano's father Kadir Khan, Rizwan and his family members were arrested. According to the post-mortem report, Saidabano was first strangled to death and was later set ablaze. The Upper and District Sessions Judge awarded life imprisonment to Rizwan and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000. The other three accused were released following the lack of evidence.
