Fr Oscar Colaco passes awayFR Oscar Colaco, a Capuchin priest, passed away on August 8, after a brief illness. He was 64. Ordained in 1970, Fr Oscar was a zealous priest and served in various capacities during his life. Parish priest at St Joseph's Church, Umralla (via Nallasopara) for nearly 13 years, he was instrumental in building the magnificent church there.
He was also the Principal of Fatima High School at Vidyavihar between 1987 and 1993, and the chairman of the IX Youth National Basketball Championship, held at the Fatima courts in 1991. With his death, the Church of Mumbai and Vasai, has lost a great educationist and an ardent sports lover. His mortal remains were laid to rest at the cemetery at St. Joseph's Church, Umralla on August 9 after a well-attended funeral. The mourners were led by Bishop Thomas Dabre of Vasai, and nearly 50 priests.
CR services disrupted
Train services between Kalyan and Kasara was disrupted at 1.35 pm today when the Allahabad bound 1071 KamayaniExpress developed technical problems near Titwala. Services to Kasara were affected for over three hours, and two trains were cancelled at Kalyan and Dombivli.It was only after the train was towed to Igatpuri at 4.30 pm that services were resumed.
Jewellery course at SNDT
