Leptospirosis toll climbs to 12

SURAT, Aug 10: Leptospirosis claimed the lives of two more patients of Valsad district in the past 24 hours, even as eight more people were admitted to hospitals with symptoms of the disease on Tuesday. With the death of the two patients late on Monday night in the Valsad Civil Hospital, the toll of the disease climbed to 12; 78 people have been affected by leptospirosis so far.Meanwhile, State Health Minister Ashok Bhatt is expected to arrive in the city on Wednesday to take stock of the situation.
