PUNE, Aug 10: It was the best of times where defenders Poona Club `A' were concerned. It was also, probably, the worst of times where defenders Poona Club `A' were concerned. And both occurred during the third day's play of the 15th Inter-Club Billiards and Snooker championship at their home tables today.Poona Club `A' garnered top honours today, after Sanjay Bajaj recorded the highest break of the tournament so far -- 92 -- against Deccan Gymkhana `C' cueist Deshpande, to take the frame at 300-170.
The biggest upset of the day, however, also occurred in the same match with the upsetting of the reigning National junior champion Vignesh Sanghvi by Jayant Natu. Playing below his usual standards, the 19-year-old student of Ness Wadia college went down 260-300 in the first session of the day.
The balance was, however, confirmed in the favour of the defenders with Sunil Handa's near perfect breaks of 54 blanking out V Kulkarni 300-149.
