Six-year-old knocked down
A six-year-old girl, Sita Rathod, was fatally knocked down by the driver of a tempo on Saniya-Hemad Road on Wednesday night. A complaint filed in the Kapodara police station on Thursday morning by Fathehsingh Takhatsingh Meghat, a resident of Rajput Mohalla said that an unidentified tempo (GJ 16 V 7120) hit Sita, who died on the spot. The girl was walking on the side of the road when she was hit around 8 pm. A case under sections of the IPC and MVA has been registered.

Commits suicide
Sunita Aniruddha Bhatt (30), a married woman residing at Pragjeen Apartments, Icchanath, committed suicide by setting herself on fire on Tuesday night. Being treated at the Mission hospital since, she died on Wednesday night, a case registered in the Umra police station said. The reason for the extreme step has not been ascertained as yet.

PASA arrest
Pankaj Baalan Pilla (38), a listed bootlegger operating in the Adajan area of the city, has been arrested under provisions of the PASA act. The PCB stated here this evening that Pilla, a resident of Akshar Jyot Apartments, Adajan Road, was involved in illegally transporting and selling IMFL for the past few years. He has been sent to the Bhavnagar district jail to serve a sentence.

Burns death
30-year-old Taalib Sajaad Hussain Burhanpurwala of Patelnagar in Udhna died early on Thursday morning in the New Civil Hospital where he was being treated for burn injuries since Tuesday night. A case registered under CrPC 174 said that Taalib was heating water on a stove when it exploded, causing burns to him. He died at 6 am on Thursday morning, the police said.
