Taking a bite too much

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
AUGUST 12: In a mave reminiscent of heavyweight boxing, a Thai football referee faced charges today after allegedly taking a bite out of a Filipino colleague.

``The Philippine delegation has filed a complaint with the Asian Football Confederation and the Brunei South East Asian Games Organising committee,'' said Philippine Olympic Committee spokesman Gus Villanueva.

He said the complaint was filed by the Filipino embassy here on behalf of Filipino referee Romulo Sabillo, and that it named the alleged assailant as Thai football referee Taebwa Sasachai.

Thai officials could not be reached for comment today.

The alleged incident, which took place yesterday, brought back memories of Mike Tyson biting off part of the ear of heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield.
