PUNE, Aug 12: The ninth edition of Modern Past Association's (MPA) `Dawn to Dusk' basketball tournament will be conducted on August 15 at Modern college courts.The one day tournament, which will also mark the 46th anniversary of the association, is expected to feature more than 50 teams in men's and women's sections from Pune and other districts of Maharashtra. The unofficial meet (since it is not recognised by the district body -- Poona District Basketball Association), will be played on a unique format in which each match will be of 10 minutes instead of the regular 40 minutes duration, and is being dedicated to the memory of the Late Rahul Dumbre forthe men's and Ulhas Vaidya for women's section. The three-times winners BEG will not be participating in this year's meet, since the players are doing national duty at Kargil operation, informed Abhay Pradhan, president of MPA while briefing newsmen on Wednesday.
``Teams like last year's runners-up Pune Police, Youngsters, Deccan Gymkhana and PYC have confirmed their participation in the men's section. In the women's section, last year's winners and runners-up BMCC and Dastur High School, PYC, Anjinkya Gymkhana from Satara will be the main attraction,'' said Pradhan.
