AMRITSAR, AUG 16: A Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and four constables of Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran have been placed under suspension following the death of a farmer due to alleged `torture' at the police station on Sunday night.Senior police officials told newsmen here that the victim identified as Lakhwinder Singh Lakha was taken into custody by ASI Fateh Faqir Singh last night from Ratoke village and was brought to the police station to sort out a land dispute.
He was allegedly tortured by the ASI and the four constables which ultimately led to his death, officials said.
