NAGPUR, AUG 16: The son of the Arts faculty dean and a prime suspect were among the five persons arrested on Monday by a special police team in connection with fake degree, marksheets and revaluation scam in the University of Nagpur.Siddharth Ashih Kumar Dey (24), K Narayan Nath (22) and A G Morey (24) were arrested as beneficiaries in the scam and remanded to magisterial custody for a fortnight, police said.
Siddhrath's father and the dean, A K Dey, was heading a fact finding committee appointed by the Vice-Chancellor after the exposure of the scandal recently.
Principal of a college in Bhandara, Dey was also a member of both Academic and Management Councils, Senate and Board of Examinations, police said.
The prime suspect in arranging customers for selling bogus degrees and marklists, Gopal Thakur (36) and his accomplice K K V Prasad (21), were the other two arrested. They were remanded to police custody till August 20.
The total number of persons arrested in connection with the scam has nowtouched the two dozen mark.
