CHANDIGARH, AUG 16: Bharatiya Janata Party nominee Krishan Lal Sharma addressed party workers and public men at village Darua yesterday evening. Sharma assured the public of redressal of their grievances. The rally was also addressed by other senior party leaders.Later, Sharma held a meeting at the Punjab University, which was and attended by many faculty members.
All India Youth Organisation president Ved Parkash Mamgai also extended support to Sharma.

Demand for statehood n The Chandigarh Democratic Front has called for according of statehood to Chandigarh after including areas adjoining to the City. In a press release issued here today, Front president Kanwar Pal Gehlot said Chandigarh should also have a Vidhan Sabha and areas like Kalka and Naraingarh in Haryana, Morinda and Banur in Punjab and Nalagarh in HP should be included in it. The United Indian Christian Welfare Association, on behalf of the Christian community here, has decided to support Pawan Bansal, the Congress candidate for the Chandigarh constituency in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
