CHB draw of lots witnesses heavy rush

CHANDIGARH, AUG 16: The draw of lots for registration and allocation of floors to the eligible applicants for Economically Weaker Sections and Lower Income Group Housing Scheme - 1998, in Sector 52, was held today in the premises of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB). More than 2,000 persons witnessed the draw, an official statement said here today.

Out of 24,754 applications received against the LIG Housing Scheme, 19,862 were declared to be eligible under various categories such as scheduled caste, defence personnel, other backward classes, retired/retiring persons, physically handicapped, CHB employees, oustees of Chandigarh and occupants of 13-type accommodation, besides the general category.

A total of 208 houses were allocated against the general category, out of 15,471 eligible applicants in this category.

In the SC category, 45 houses were allocated against 1,447 eligible applicants, while 18 houses were allocated in the defence personnel category against 1,709 eligible applicants. Similarly, 18 houses each were allocated in the OBC and RRB categories.

In the physical handicapped category four houses were allocated against 111 eligible applicants; in CHB category four houses were allocated against 19 eligible applicants; in oustees of Chandigarh category nine houses were allocated against nine eligible applicants, and in the occupants of 13-type accommodation category 18 houses were allocated against 177 eligible applicants. Similarly, against 10,065 applications received against 144 dwelling units, 5,998 applicants were found to be eligible for the scheme, with houses allocated for each category.
