145 Ropar booths declared sensitive

ROOPNAGAR, AUG 16: Of the 536 polling stations in the district, 145 have been declared as sensitive. According to Deputy Commissioner Kuldip Singh Sidhu, who is also the District Electoral Officer, the 145 sensitive polling stations include at least 55 most vulnerable points.

He said special security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair elections at all the sensitive polling stations. He identified Chamkaur Sahib Assembly segment as the most sensitive with 35 polling stations being declared as vulnerable.

There are five Assembly segments in the district and while Morinda has 31 sensitive polling stations, Anandpur Sahib has 28 and Kharar 26. Nangal has the least number of 25 sensitive polling booths.

Meanwhile, Gurjeet Singh today filed his nomination papers as an Independent candidate from Roopnagar seat. His nomination follows that of Balbir Kaur, the AISAD candidate.
