Two killed in road mishaps
Two persons died in different road accidents on Saturday and Sunday. An unidentified person was killed on Saturday while he was crossing the road. Police said he was hit by a tanker (number GJ-1UU-9156). In another mishap on Sunday, Mafaji Harchandji Thakore (54), a resident of JP ni chali, Sabarmati, was killed when he was hit by a truck (number GJ-1X-7440). Police said Mafaji was on his cycle near Sabarmati Power House circle when the accident took place.Two arrested
Shahibaugh police arrested two persons with illegal solvent near Civil Hospital. Police said Vishwanath Ramvilas Tomar and Bhupendra Ramprakash Tomar were arrested for illegal possession of a solvent worth Rs 12,800. The Shahibaugh police are further investigating.

In two different raids in the city, police arrested 24 persons under the Gambling Act. The police recovered Rs 17,635 from them. In a raid in Naroda, police arrested Jayantibhai Patel along with 12 others and recovered Rs 14,220 from them. In another raid, the police arrested Manish Lodha and 10 others and recovered Rs 3,415 from them. The police have registered another 14 cases of gambling on Saturday and Sunday and have arrested 42 people.
Nine arrested
City police have arrested nine persons under PASA. Among those arrested are Ahmedahussain alias Barsatu Abdulhamid Ansari, Ramesh alias Fafado Pratapbhai Thakore, Pradip Chinubhai Shaikh, Khushal Pujaji Solanki, Umarbhai Usmanbhai Miyana, Hasmukh alias Papu Bhanuprasad Parmar, Rakesh alias Rakalo Ramanlal Parmar, Jayantilal alias Bhamo Jivanlal Prajapati and Shabbirhussain Allahrakha Shaikh.
Theft case
Hemantkumar Vasudev Joshi, a resident of Vaikunth Vihar Society, Naroda has lodged a complaint that an unidentified person decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 43,835. Joshi said construction work was in progress in his house about 10 days back, when the incident took place.
Cash stolen
Pradipkumar Harishanker Goyal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has claimed that an unidentified person walked away with Rs 25,000 and some important documents from luxury bus (number RJ-19-5682). He said the incident took place outside Avkar travels, near Geeta Mandir.
Woman dies
Ushaben Amarsingh Solanki, a resident of Jogani Mata Temple, Asarwa, died of burns while filling kerosene in the stove. Police said at about 9.30 pm on Friday, Ushaben was filling kerosene when the incident occurred. She was admitted to Civil Hospital where she breathed her last on Sunday.
Traffic drive
The Traffic Department on Saturday and Sunday collected fines from 1,372 drivers for violation of traffic rules. The department has also filed cases against 1,836 drivers under various offences.
Liquor seized
City police on Sunday and Saturday filed 22 cases under the Prohibition Act and arrested 22 persons with 391 litres of IMFL. Police also arrested 136 people as a precautionary measure.
