Parth enters semis

MUMBAI, AUG 16: Third seed Parth Doshi became the first player to enter the semi-finals of the boys under-19 in the Rs 85,000 Otters Club All-India Open squash tournament, being played at the Club courts, here, on Monday. Playing his quarter-final match a day early, Doshi made quick work of Mahesh Verma, winning 9-2, 9-0, 9-2. However, sterner tests await him in the semi-finals, where he awaits the winner of the match between second seed Bikram Uberoi and Aftab Mathur.

Seeded players continued their march in the lower age groups as well. In the boys under-17, all the top seeds, Junaid Nathani, Vishal Kapoor and Neerav Tomar advanced into the round of eight. Vishal dropped a game to Gaurav Nandarjog before advancing. Having won the first 9-6, Vishal dropped the second 1-9, before recovering to win the third and fourth 9-7 and 9-1. Vishal, a former under-14 National champion now takes on Siddharth Suchde.

There were close matches in the under-15 category too, with Rishabh Singhvi dropping the first twogames before recovering to beat Yogin Thakur in five.

Mihir Sheth, seeded No. 1 in the under-15 and third in under-17 has entered the quarter-finals of both.
