CHANDIGARH, AUG 17: The Finance and Contract Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has recommended the leasing out of nursery sites of Sector 23 and 26 for a period of three years.The Committee has accorded its approval for the setting-up of a police cell to assist the enforcement staff for encroachment removal from public land. Accordingly, the Inspector General of Police was requested to place the services of one inspector, two head constables and eight constables at disposal of the MC, for which Rs 10.75 lakh is to be deposited in lieu of salary for one year in advance. As per terms laid down by the Corporation for leasing out nursery sites, the nursery sites are to be used for storing and marketing of plants and allied purposes. The consideration money of the lease period shall be payable in three annual instalments with 25 per cent amount of lease money at the time of auction. If the lessee fails to execute a lease deed and does not deposit the balance of the first yearly instalment within 30 days, this amount will be forfeited. The second and third instalment shall be deposited before the start of the first and second year, failing which the lease agreement shall be liable to becancelled.
However, the sign board in connection with promotion of the nursery is not allowed for display. In addition to yearly instalments, the contractor will have to submit a bank guarantee equivalent to 10 per cent of the bid money.Besides allowing open space for organising the Khadi Gramudyog Exhibition at Sector 34-B, the Committee has fixed the rate for use of the Circus Ground in Sector 17 at Rs 25,000 per day for commercial and Rs 15,000 per day for government and semi-government departments.
