SAS NAGAR, AUG 17: Kharar segment of the Roopnagar constituency does not have a single woman deployed on poll duty till now.The segment has a total of 202 polling stations, 99 are in the urban areas and 103 in rural. Out of these, 6 are ultra sensitive and 23 sensitive. There would be 202 presiding officers on duty and 20 additional officers in the reserve. The segment would have a total of 606 polling officers on duty. Two rehearsals for the election staff would be held on the 25th and September 1, said Assistant Election Returning Officer O.P.Popli. He said special arrangements have been made for the ultra sensitive and sensitive polling booths. Extra security forces would be deployed at these places. He further added that no one without proper authorisation would be allowed inside the polling booths and the counting centre. Shivalik Public School in Phase VI of the township will be the lone counting centre of this segment; it will also the distribution and collection centre.
Tohra inaugurates joint poll office
The joint election office of the All India Shiromani Akali Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Akali Dal (Amritsar), Marxist Communist Party of India and the Kisan unions, was formally inaugurated in Phase III-B-2 today by AISAD party president Gurcharan Singh Tohra.
Tohra critisied Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for promoting his son.Hardeep Singh, a member of the SGPC, said that Basant Kaur Khalsa would be their joint candidate from Roopnagar constituency.
