Dawood man shot dead

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, AUG 19: A member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang was killed in an encounter with police at Worli early this morning.

On a tip-off, a squad under senior inspector Vivek Jadhav attached to Worli police station laid a trap near Gopal Nagar hutments at around 3.15 am. They had information that some members of the Dawood gang were to meet there to collect protection money.

Two hours later, two men were seen moving suspiciously in the area. When police asked them to surrender, the duo opened fire at them. In the subsequent exchange of fire, one of the men was injured, but his accomplice managed to give police the slip, sources said.

The wounded gangster was rushed to KEM Hospital but was declared dead before admission.
