Phones disrupted by digging

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Aug 19: Once again, it was digging by municipal workers which resulted in the disruption of some telephone lines in the Alkapuri area late on Wednesday night.

According to Telecom officials, about 100 telephone lines were affected when an underground telecom cable was damaged. Officials said the damage occurred when one of the joints of a telecom cable was damaged. Telecom officials rushed to the spot and were carrying out repair works. They were hopeful that the faults would be repaired by late Thursday night and the lines restored. Officials said that the VMC had informed the Telecom department about the digging, but since the telecom cables were barely inches from the surface, they were damaged.
