VADODARA, Aug 19: The Sir Sayaji General (SSG) Hospital will shortly have a full-fledged trauma centre with the state government recently embarking upon a Rs 150 crore upgradation plan in government-run hospitals across the state. The centre, which is going to be placed under the department of radiology, is undergoing a face-lift. Modern medical equipment has been installed, which would be made operational shortly. SSG officials said that besides the Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machine, the centre would be equipped with a Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) unit, Ultra-Sonography Machine and sophisticated X-Ray machines. All this has been installed at an expenditure of about Rs 4 crores.
The centre would specially aid doctors who attend to accident cases on a daily basis. ``With the provision of ultra-modern equipment, it would be possible for doctors to take immediate action like scanning of specific body parts and other related things,'' said Dr Manish Pandey of the Radiology department.
Though doctors were satisfied at the setting up of the centre, they lamented that such a facility should have been installed a long time ago. ``It is an important centre for any hospital. Without it, handling of trauma-related cases becomes difficult,'' said a doctor.
