Child witness to murder
Four unidentified youths, said to be migrant labourers from Orissa, hacked another youth to death in the Udhna area on Wednesday night, a case registered in the Udhna police station on Thursday said. Rekha Dilip Joshi (12), sister of the victim, Raja Dilip Joshi (18), and an eyewitness to the murder, told the police that four migrant labourers chased her brother into their house and killed him with sharp-edged weapons before escaping. An earlier argument is reported to be the reason for the murder. The police have registered a case of murder, but no arrests have been made.Remanded
Notorious gangster and Chhota Rajan aide Dilip Shankar Kadam alias Dilip Maratha, along with his aides Dharmesh alias Nannu Nanalal Shah, Manji Jetha Patel and Mavji Ramji Patel -- all arrested earlier in extortion and land-grabbing cases -- were produced before a magistrate on Thursday and remanded to police custody for two days, the special branch announced on Thursday evening.
Burns death
Pachi Ramji Patel (22), a married woman, committed suicide by setting herself on fire on Thursday afternoon. Pachi, a resident of Matawadi area of L H Road, was brought to the Maskati hospital of the city at around 3 pm in the afternoon where she was declared dead on admission. Investigating Varachha police officials said she had been married for five years to Ramji Amba Patel. They had no children. The cause of the extreme step is still not known. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered in the police station.
Man missing
A 37-year-old man, residing at Nanpura, is reported missing since Tuesday. Rajesh Babandas Patel, a resident of Gowardhan Apartments, Nanpura, informed the Athwalines police today that Balu Babandas Patel told his wife on Tuesday night that he would return in a couple of hours. He is said to have taken his scooter (GJ 5 B 3722) which has not been recovered either. HC Mohan Mitha is investigating.
