The congress party had announced the name of the former MLA Baburao Chakote for the north city Assembly constituency. Baburao and his son Vishwanath Chakote had filed the nomination papers. Chakote's nomination has been found invalid on the ground that the nomination form was not attached with the official party's `B' form.

Interestingly, the party's official `B' form was in the name of his son Vishwanath Chakote so now Vishwnath has become the official candidate of the Congress from the north constituency. Vishwanath Chakote is the former mayor and had contested the last Assembly election as the congress candidate against the BJP.

Another nomination declared invalid is that of city unit BJP president Prabhakar Landge, who had filed his papers for the Solapur Loksabha constituency, though as a dummy candidate for the official candidate Lingraj Valyal.

Out of the total 117 assembly nominations 17 were declared invalid while out of 15 nomination for the Loksabha, 2 were declared invalid.
