Nitin sparkles
Nitin Chugh of GD Salwan Public School is emerging as a potential all-round sportsperson. In the zonal 28 inter-school sports meets, he helped his team enter the final in cricket competition and also picked up three silver medals in swimming events.Playing against Manav Sthali, Nitin scored 46 with the help of eight fours in his team's 64-run victory. Lovely Anand claimed four wickets for the winners.
In swimming, Nitin finished second in sub-juniors' 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke events.
School basketball
Fr Agnel School, Gautam Nagar, will organise the fourth edition of Fr C Rodrigues memorial inter-school basketball tournament for senior boys and girls. More than 40 prominent public schools, including Sri Ram School (Gurgaon), Chinmaya Vidyalaya, British School, Amity International, Don Bosco, St George's and Modern School will be among the 25 teams in boys and 15 in girls section participating in the tournament.
Tennis ball tourney
The fourth national sub-junior tennis ball cricket championship (boys and girls) will be held at Gorakhpur from October 9 to 12. According to secretary of Tennis Ball Cricket Federation of India Anis Ahmad Lari, 27 teams from different states will participate in the championship.
Title for Raj Kumar
Raj Kumar won the 25th Challenger of the Pepsi Cool Pool Play-offs beating Sachin Dang 2-1 in the final at Planet Pool (Noida). Thirteen-year-old Karan lost to Sachin in the semi-final.
Vijay Kushwaha finished fourth. He defeated US Chaddha. The next Challenger will be hels at Green Blaze Academy, Malviya Nagar at 11 am on August 21. Entries close with Vertex Sports at 6171108.
