`Only Cong can protect poor's interest'
The Jhuggi Vasi Sangharsh Samiti chief patron and vice- president of Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee, Manjit Kaur, at a meeting held at the Sector 24 Saini Bhawan, said that only Congress could protect the interest of the poor. And would shortly announce an action plan for the success of the Congress candidate in the forthcoming election.

Bansal campaigns
Pawan Kumar Bansal went from door to door in Sector 23 and Maloya complex today. The people raised slogans in his favour and assured him support in the election. Besides, addressing a gathering at Manimajra at noon, Bansal joined a prayer meeting at the Sector 18 church.

Show held in BJP nominee's support
The local unit of BJP's Labour Cell, yesterday organised a programme of film actor and playback singer, Bharat Sharma Vyas at the Ramdarbar CRPF Ground. Itwas attended by 50,000 people.

Veterinary camp organised
People For Animals set up its mobile clinic near the Defence Services Officers' Institute in Sector 36 here today and treated more than 30 dogs, most of them pets. Consultation was free and vaccination and medicines were free for stray dogs; in the cast of pet dogs the injections and medicines were provided at cost price.

Earlier, a veterinary camp held in Kumbhar Colony, Sector 25 treated more than 50 animals including cattle.
