Harmalkar 'trick spurs Worli

AUGUST 22: Sudhakar Harmalkar turned an impressive all-round display on Sunday at the Matunga ground which enabled Worli Sports Club to a first innings success over Dadar Parsee Zorastrian on the seventh day of the B Division Dr HD Kanga League.

Harmalkar led the run charge for Worli with an unbeaten 39 in the team's total of 175. He then returned to torment the opposition by claiming a superb hat-trick with his medium-pace. He claimed 5-18 as DPZ were shot out for a paltry 43. Harmalkar's partner at the other end, medium-pacer Vishal Mahadik too bowled well while claiming a seven wicket haul in the match.Worli are thus leading the B Division standings having garnered 23 points. Following the leaders are Khandala with 20 points.

Amit Pagnis and Sanjay Bangar played lead roles in Shivaji Park Gymkhana's two-wicket win over MB Union in their A Division match at Cross Maidan.

Bangar's medium-pace which fetched him four wickets limited MB Union to 127 with Naresh Shanbag (22) enmerging the topscorer.

Left-handed opener Amit Pagnis put SPG on course with a fine 56. However, SPG lost way after his dismissal and were struggling at 112 for eight at one stage. However the ninth wicket pair of Sandesh Kawle (10) and Kalpesh Patil (10) added invaluable 17 runs to see the side through.

Other teams to surge ahead on the basis of first innings win were Dadar Union and Young Friends who defeated Khar Gymkhana and Young Maharashtra respectively.

Dadar Union, Cricket Club of India and National CC are locked in a three-way tussle for the top slot in the standings having logged 19 points each.
