`Road repairs to be finished by Ganeshotsav'

Mayor Hareshwar Patil has declared that repair work on all the roads in the city will be completed before Ganesh Chaturthi. He was speaking after a day-long inspection work at LBS Marg, Adi Shankaracharya Marg, Anik Depot, Panvel toll naka and the Saki Naka-Powai road on Friday. The mayor said the BMC would work on these roads after 11.30 in the night. All complaints regarding potholes on roads could be directed to his office on 2620251 / 2621020.

AYBI organises lecture series

A lecture series on August 25 and 26 has been announced by Association of Youth for a Better India (AYBI). The series presents people from different spheres to talk about their achievements with relevance to their respective fields.

The objective is to create awareness among youth about local and international issues, to inculcate an analytical thought process, and to develop value-oriented leaders. On August 25 at 12 pm, R Chidambaram (Chairperson, Atomic ResearchCommission) will speak at Jaihind College, Churchgate and Anupam Kher at Pochkhanwala Hall, Vile Parle. On August 26, at 12 pm, Ravi Narayan (Deputy Managing Director, NSE), will address students at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, and again at 4.30 pm at Pochkhanwala Hall, Vile Parle. Industrial relations meet

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is having a workshop on `Industrial Relations: Agenda for Change' for central and state Labour Department officials at World Trade Centre from August 24-26. The workshop will be attended by labour secretaries, labour commissioners and labour judges from different states. Employers and trade union representatives will also participate. Painting contest on Kargil
