Bailable warrants for UT DSP, SI

CHANDIGARH, AUG 23: For not appearing before the Court as witnesses even after being served, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued bailable warrants against UTDeputy Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh and Sub-Inspector Prem Chand. Pronouncing the orders in the open court, Justice R.S. Mongia observed: "The petitioner had summoned six witnesses. As per the official report, all the six witnesses have been duly served.... Two witnesses in the list at serial number four and six, namely DSP Surjit Singh and SI Prem Chand are not present despite having been duly served."Justice Mongia further observed: "They have not come present till 3.45 p.m. Let bailable warrants in sum of Rs 5,000 be issued againstthem for securing their presence in theCourt for September 24". Earlier, petitioner Sukhdev Singh of Sector 21 had sought quashing of the cancellation letter dated Jan 9, 1991 and further letter dated September 8, 1994 whereby he was informed regarding rejection of his request for the revival of the allotment of a dwelling unit,152/1, in Sector 45.
