Proxy Vote

NRIs, the most voluble citizens of cyberspace, are shifting gear from their interminable Hindu-Muslim battles to the elections. A priceless post on the Usenet newsgroup soc.culture.indian, where issues relating to India's society and culture are thrashed out, from someone who calls himself Sid Harth:

``I told you that the most vicious enemies of my brother Atal Behari Vajpayee are not Muslims, not Shudras or Christians -- the Commies perhaps -- but (it is) egalitarian Socialists (who) have pitched their ramshackle tents in Atal's territory. Is that some kind of good news?'' George should be beside himself with such attention from unexpected quarters.

Similar black humour has been brought to bear on Sonia: ``Sonia asked Congressmen to revive the Quit India spirit. So she should get out first.''

The analysis of Hindutva which initially appeared on www.bjp.org is replicating faster than the Internet Worm. It begins thus, ambitiously: ``In the history of the world, the Hindu awakening of the late 20thcentury will go down as one of the most monumental events.'' Frankly, we heard you the first time.
