Congress fielding corrupt candidates

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SAS NAGAR, AUG 23: The SAD-BJP candidate from the Roopnagar (reserved) constituency, Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal, said the voters had twice got her elected to the Lok Sabha from this constituency and it was this faith in the electorate that had got her the party ticket from here.

While talking to mediapersons here today, she said it was due to her efforts that people's long-pending demand for a railway station was met and Union Minister for Railways, Nitish Kumar, recently laid down the foundation stone of the Chandigarh-Ludhiana Railway Line at Mohali. The proposal to construct railway lines over the bridges at Kurali, Morinda and Sarhind had also been approved, besides the construction of two more bridges over Budhi river, she said.

Besides, a tyre factory has also been set up at Chamkur Sahib, she said. The Vajpaee Government at the centre and the Badal Government in the state have done a lot for the people of Punjab, she added.

While critisising the Congress by calling it a "corrupt party that fielded unscrupulous candidates,"she said corruption cases against the Congress candidate contesting from Roopnagar are still pending at the Lokpal Office. Terming Gurcharan Singh Tohra as a Gadhar of the Sikh community, she alleged that he was just a power hungry politician.
