AURANGABAD, AUG 23: Setting to rest all speculation of the BJP joining hands with Nationalist Congress Party, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan on Monday said his party viewed NCP chief Sharad Pawar to be a political blackmailer, who was not serious about contesting the current elections.Asked whether his party would be averse to tie up with the NCP, in case it (BJP) falls short of majority, Mahajan said he did not count much on Pawar's new party. `The way they are going about their campaigning, it doesn't look like the NCP is serious about its job. At the most it may end up with seven to eight MPs and all that Pawar will do with them is blackmail the majority party,' Mahajan said.
Mahajan said the Congress claim to majority was hollow as a single party majority in the country seems improbable in the next 25 years. `It is time all parties realise that we are going through a period of alliances and coalition governments,' Mahajan said at a press meet.
On Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mahajan said her party had already used the Sonia card in previous elections but this time it will not be as effective this time.
