Kanshi prefers hung verdict in LS polls

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, AUG 27: Bahujan Samaj Party president Kanshi Ram will be the only political leader who prefers instability in the country. He today reiterated that his party always preferred a hung Parliament.

`We will emerge as a third force at national level politics after these general elections. The BSP will work to marginalise both BJP and Congress by restricting them to below the 150-mark in Parliament. We will favour a hung Parliament always, said Kanshiram while addressing a press conference at Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. The leader who arrived an hour late said, the voters were in favour of the party's stand.

BSP had secured 1.70 crore votes in previous elections and was number four as a national party, he said, adding that this time the party had fielded 150 candidates all over the country. Admitting that it was difficult to marginalise BJP, in comparison to the Congress, the BSP chief said that his party's aim was to reduce by 45 the number of BJP seats in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

pKanshiRam criticised BJP saying the party was not sure of its victory and hence it had come under the umbrella of the National Democratic Alliance. He portrayed a post-election alliance of BJP, NCP and Samajwadi Party as agenda of both Sharad Pawar and Mulayam Sigh Yadav was similar to that of Bharatiya Janata Party.

To a query, he said that he would favour `Italian putri (daughter) Sonia Gandhi over Arya putra (son) Atal Behari Vajpyaee as a prime ministerial candidate since Aryans have done damage to this nation. Italian putri is yet to do any harm to us,' he quipped in a lighter vein.
