Bombay YMCA TT from today

Nachiket Chawathe, who won the men's title at PJ Hindu Gymkhana State Ranking Table Tennis tournament recently, has been top seeded for the Bombay YMCA championships which gets under way at the Sachivalaya Gymkhana from Saturday.

Mallika Parekh has been given the pride of place in the women's section. She is topseeded in girls too with Aditya Mahagaonkar being the No 1 seed in junior boys.

State athletic meet in September

The senior State athletic Championships will be held at Balewadi, Pune, on September 7 and 8. Interested participants from Bombay City District should send the list of events to Govind Dangi atPriyadarshini Park before August 30.

WIAA to organise four car rallies

The Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) will organise four major car rallies this year and the star attraction will be the rally starting from New Delhi, Chennai, Calcutta and ending in Mumbai, repeating the event of the Golden Jubilee Rally held 30 years back. WIAA has also planned to organise race meets on their own race track in Gujarat on a regular basis and Gymkhanas and woman's car rally are on the cards.

WIAA will also be one of the supporters for the vintage and classic car events being organised in Mumbai, Pune and Goa. A vintage and classic car rally is being proposed from Mumbai to Goa shortly.

SNDT badminton tournament

The SNDT Women University will be conducting the senior Inter-Collegiate Badminton and Table Tennis tournament on August 30 and 31 at the University Pavilion, Marine Lines.
